ABOUT US
The PolyGoats 4x4 club at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is one of the oldest collegiate 4wd clubs, first established in 1966. The club aims to promote safe offroad practices, in addition to design and fabrication, ultimately with the goal of having a good day on the trail. Officers assist members by providing tools and a safe space to work on their vehicles, for anything from routine maintenance to axle relocations and engine swaps. In addition, the club hosts trail cleanups to show the importance of land stewardship to ensure trails will stay open for future generations of PolyGoats.
Throughout the year, the PolyGoats go on a variety of day and overnight trips. Our calendar is packed with camping or dune and tune meetings at Pismo, or desert runs in Johnson Valley to ring in the new year or for King of the Hammers. The club also does a snow trip and a fall trip to the Sierras, often at Bald Mountain and the Rubicon. There have also been trips as far away as Moab. These are only some of the places you will find the PolyGoats, and with the amount of members from all around the state and country, you’re sure to run into a PolyGoat on the trails!
The PolyGoats also have an engaged alumni network, who frequently come back to mentor new members or come to trail runs. As such, the PolyGoats have a wide reach, not only to current Cal Poly students and outdoor enthusiasts, but generations of alumni who have made the club into what it is today.
